About

This page is the home of my HOT foods.

All of the pictures were taken at 1600x1200 and 16bit color. The pictures on the page have been reduced to 1/4 and linked to the full sized picture which is a much bigger download (~400KB). I've provided them for people with faster connections or those that are trying to help me identify things of note.

DATE: Aug 12th, 2003. So I wanted to try pickling a couple of green serranos and a red semi-dried Salsa pepper. Not in the mood to put forth any effort I just poked holes in them and threw them in with some pepperoncinis that I bought from the store.
DATE: Aug 12th, 2003. Another shot of the jar.

DATE: Aug 24th, 2003. My collection of Hot Sauces bought from stores or acquired from restaurants. Some of them are quite old.
  • Franks Red Hot is a staple in my house. We buy it in bulk at Costco.
  • Cayenne Pepper. Got it at a Kroger and its HOT! Use it when I make wings.
  • The red tabasco has darkened a bit cuz its old
  • Green tobasco
  • Bono's Habenero Sause was bright orange like a carrot when I got it from a restaraunt of the same name in FL. I didn't really like it but I kept it as a reminder of why I don't like carrot based sauces and cuz it was my first hab sauce.
  • Scotch Bonnet Sauce I got at Kitchen's Etc. Would be great if they had just deseeded it because the seeds are hard.
  • Tiger Sauce. Not really that hot but tastey. Found in supermarkets.
  • Chile Man Louisiana Lightnin' bought at a town fair. You can get it from The Chile Man
  • Chile Man Thunderbolt which I also got at the fair.
DATE: Aug 24th, 2003. Here are the ingredients for my first batch of "Lowlight's Italian Serrano Salsa." Eight red Garden Salsa Peppers, eight red serrano peppers, and 12 green serrano peppers.
DATE: Aug 25th, 2003. These are a few shots of my first jar of "LISS" which was an old 24oz. jar from some Safeway Chipotle Salsa. I made enough to fill the jar and then had about a 1/2 cup left over. I ate that the next day and let the jar age until Friday the 29th.

DATE: Sept 7th, 2003. The ingredients for my second batch of homemade salsa. This time I didn't use seasoned tomato paste so this time its called "Lowlight's Serrano Salsa" and it tasted much better. I managed to fill 4 half-pint jars.
DATE: Sept. 19th, 2003. This candy was made with Sugar, Karo, water, margerine (probably not needed), and store bought cayenne powder (I haven't had any pods of my own to dry).
